You’re absolutely right, "L": my Dad (who has a familly history of severe osteoporosis, and was starting to "hunch" over at age 65-ish) had AMAZING results with Fosomax, and no jaw trouble that we see in the last 7 yrs., but I have no idea if it’s safe or even works for children. Your doctor can give you all the information about bone building medications, and suggest something that’s good for your son’s age, if that’s what you decide to do. That’s the only one I’ve had some experience with, but I’m sure there are several others out there.
