Often in a new born, because their kidneys are immature, babies are not so able to retain salt and are given high doses of florinef (4 tablets is not unusual). This will be reduced in time, as she matures. However, florinef is a salt retaining tablet and if your daughter is not actually taking any salt, am not sure even that dose will help her retain what she is not receiving! I know there is some sodium in milk but salt wasters do tend to require a supplement as well (at least in the first few months) as this is seldom sufficient. However, as your endo rightly says, monitoring blood pressure is an important measure and is the only real problem to look out for on high doses of florinef. If your daughters B/P remains stable, and her sodium levels are normal, I really wouldn’t worry about the florinef dose- she obviously needs it!Toni
