Sherry in VirginiaWell she took him to the doctor on Friday. She went to work and left him with her younger brother, with instructions to call me if he needed help. Long story short, work let her leave for the day and she took him to the doctor. He has strep, they told her it was only contageous for the first 24 hours so we are good to go on Monday I guess. He’s also taking amoxicillian for it. I am glad she finally got him some help! Had I not intervened and said no to looking after him on Friday he never would have seen the doctor! I was prepared to take him to the doctor myself, if I could have gotten a sitter for my kids.
A few things I wanted to say, and I really appreciate all the advice and opinions from you all!
Cherry Lane: Her brother took care of her son for a couple hours on Friday until she could get home. I will only have him 5 days a week until Jan 22, because my mother in law is away on holidays till then. Then she will have him Thurs and Friday. Everyone else works/goes to school so there is no one to take care of him. She isn’t mad at me, it just takes them some time to "get it" when we tell them something regarding CAH. Although if you ask me, it should just be a cut and dry situation!
Jenni: I agreed to look after my nephew for several reasons. The main one being that I couldn’t see him being put into day care if I was able to look after him. And I am well and able to do so. My daughter is 3.5 and we don’t keep her in a bubble, as I am sure I stated in my original post. :P But we don’t need people coming over here knowing full well they are sick and passing it onto our children..not just our child with SWCAH. A few Christmas’ ago a family member had a "24 hour stomach bug" that they informed us they had gotten over the day before. Well my daughter ended up getting it and had a rather rotten time getting rid of it. I’d expect any family member/friend to keep their distance if they were sick, whether or not my child had CAH or not. But I do appreciate your advice, thank you very much! :)
