I am frustrated and have nowhere to vent. So thank you in advance. My kids were diagnosed Non classical CAH about 2 years ago. It has been a long road. My kids were over-supressed and my son, in particular, gained about 35 pounds (he is age 10 and about 145 lbs). Poor kid. He starts dex, already does an allergy/asthma cocktail, adds metformin, etc. My ex has been slow to get onboard, to say the least. He is finally admitting that the kids "might" have CAH. However, he does not seem to understand how the meds have affected my kids and weight gain. My ex is on a health food kick, and tends to yell at them if they buy lunch at school rather than eat what he has sent with them. I really don’t think my ex understands CAH, steroids, bad-doctoring, weight-gain from bad-doctoring, and letting kids be kids. He tells my son he is fat, and has man-boobs. To say I am outraged is putting it mildly. I think this is verbal and emotional abuse. My kid is going through hell, and he will soon be starting HGH in addition to everything else. Now my ex wants to send him to "fat camp"(a term I am using). I disagree whole-heartedly. My son has so many outside forces working against him and his weight, fat camp is just not going to be the answer. I am hoping the HGH will help rather quickly to gain him some inches. Has anyone sent their kids to fat camp, after they gained so much weight on their meds?
