Hi Mandy,

Typical! Doctors wanting to keep you ’in the dark’. You sound like a very smart person. If you want to look on the internet- do so!! The more you read the more you’ll begin to understand and you will eventually become more discerning of what if good information and what is bad.

Sometimes when you are diagnosed at an older age you may find that some of the information doesn’t seem to ’fit’ you, as it keeps talking about the infant or young child. But remember that for most CAH types there is a range of severities across the spectrum. So long as 3B HSD has been definitely diagnosed for you then you need to get it under control first. While talking about control, hopefully your doctor will be able to reduce your Dex dose later on once your hormone levels come down lower. (Keep that in mind for later).

There are sites that are reputable for most medical conditions such as the emedicine sites: This one discusses 3B HSD. http://www.emedicine.com/PED/topic1051.htm  As you are just learning about this you may need to read everything several times before it starts to make sense...but you’ll get there.

Also there were a few messages last week (a bit lower down) about 3BetaHSD you may want to have a look at them, if you haven’t done so already.
