ChristiHe wasn’t on the Cortef when it dropped to 2284. His first showed up in the 3000 range after his second newborn screening came back. It took about a week to get in to the endo and that’s when we did the second test that came back at 2284. So, he was on the steroids for the 2 weeks that it took to get the second test back. About 2 weeks later we got a second opinion from another endo. At this point he had been off of the Cortef for about 2 weeks and his 17-OH came back at around 1800.
What exactly does the stim test consist of? The second endo said that we would have to spend the night in the hospital and that my son would be hooked up to an IV and they would draw blood every so often. I feel like he’s been through so much already and this seems to be a little torturous for a baby. Could they not just do genetic testing with one blood draw?
Thanks,
