Sea sickness

I was just thinking if a cah person had bad sea sickness (or any travel sickness) would it be just the same treatment as any vomiting problems?  Would they need emergency shots?  I’ve never taken my child on any boat journeys but it has been going through my head what would happen if the sea conditions were bad enough to cause repeated sickness (I have been on a boat journey years ago and everyone on board was sick almost constantly due to really bad weather).  Would an emergency shot be good enough before reaching dry land (which could be 5 hours away)?  Is there a time limit from having an emergency shot and getting to hospital?  I’m just not too sure if being sea sick has the same problems as being sick when ill.
