That kind of scare-mongering seems popular among many who want to pretend they’re experts, but really aren’t. Ironically we sometimes face the opposite problem with people who insist CAH either doesn’t exist, or is only a minor condition and not worth worrying about.

CAH would be better compared to driving a car. Obey some fairly simple rules and for the most part things will be fine. Disobey those rules and some nasty things can happen. But the rules are simply and the exceptions (bad things that happen in spite of following the rules) are infrequent enough.
