Dear Nat,

Congratulations on the birth of your daughters and welcome to this board.  There are many many people here who are willing and able to answer your questions.

I have a 15 month old SWCAH son.  He is currently taking cortef 5mg per day (divided by 3) every 8 hours and florinef .1 mg in the morning.  He eats normal food now, so I have been able to stop the salt supplements.  I have had to give him a solu-cortef injection twice for stomach virus.  Looking back, he probably would have been ok without the injection, but I was paranoid and gave it to him.  It made me feel better anyway.

My son is still young, so I, too, am always searching for answers.  I don’t have years of experience dealing with CAH, but I can tell you that it does get easier with time.  My son does all the things kids his age do.  He runs around and climbs to the top of things and falls off.  He currently has 2 bruises on his face.  Other than the CAH, he is a normal and active toddler.  We try to treat his CAH as "a way of life" and try not to hover over him every minute.  Outwardly, this is easy, but inside you are always on guard.

The people on this board are very supportive and understanding.  Do not ever hesitate to ask questions.  Things will become more normal with time.  Keep learning as much as you can about CAH.  Good luck for now and in the years to come.
