I am a teacher in CA. I don’t know what state you live in but in CA being labeled with a behavior disorder does NOT exempt the child from his/her behavior. What it does do is allow for a trained adult aid to ride the bus with that child. The adult sits with the child on the bus and monitors behavior of the child. This is happening at our school right now. This is not an excuse for assulting others. I would not let this continue. This school is dropping the ball on this one. Can the child have an assigned seat close to and in sight of the bus driver? does the child have a daily behavior chart and daily communication with parents? Have the parents been contacted and told that this child will have to be driven in by them if this continues? Has there been in school suspension? Referrals? Ask to see the Behavior Code of the school and demand that this student follows the codes or suffer the consequences. I am appalled at the staff. They are really not following through on this. Be a pain. Good luck, and let us know how it goes. JuliaJulia S
