My sister in law, and all her family do this for their infant girls. To me I think it isn’t fair because they have to lay on that ear that has that big honkin’ stud on the back of it. That looks like it would always bother them. I dont’ like to sleep in my own earrings. But everyone does things differently. I remember my sister in law bugging me to get my daughters ears pieced. She drove me insane. I too was worried about infection. They can get nasty. Who wants to deal with that crap, when you will be dealing with teething soon. No thanks. But that is my opionion. My daughter was bald until she was two, so the earrings would have been adorable. But still. I just didn’t want her to sleep on that big honkin’ earring back. SO, she begged me at 6 years old and I agreed. Then we took them out for her adenoid removal surgery and they stayed out and grew back. She had them repierced when she was 7. She loves them now at age 9. They are SPARKLY.
