Hi Laura,

Your post touched me, so through the tears I say that, I still have my mum and don’t look forward to the day when we have to part. I think that when that time comes, I will need to stress dose and I hope someone reminds me.

When my grandparents died it was like they were that bit more removed from me and although I was very upset I don’t recall having a reaction - but equally in those days I did stumble around with my CAH, so goodness knows!

When my dad died in 1985 I know in retrospect, I should have had some boost in dose as the physical/emotional exhaustion which followed was overwhelming.

I also think that for someone taking a prime responsibility for the sick loved one (ie. frequent visiting, providing fresh clothing, emotional factors etc.) - the stress of all this while a person is ill (leave alone dying) ALSO takes a toll. So for any caregivers with CAH, at these times it is important to be extra careful for yourself as well. I’ve found it’s easy to plummet even in the days after the immediate stressful situation has passed.
