M1No you are not the only one. I had my daughter’s ears pierced when she was 3 months old. My daughter slept through her ear piercing. Your post could have very well been my own. My daughter is also half Mexican, but she is also half Puerto Rican....so yes it’s a cultural thing. She never had an infection, and the earrings were made just for little babies. The back were so tiny and clicked on. Nothing like the size of an adults earring. Oh and my girl is a teenager now, no tatoos or multiple piercings thus far, lol. Her earrings fit perfect.
If I had another baby girl I would do the same thing all over again. Speaking of cultural things, my daughter also had a gold necklace and bracelet most of her childhood, (not when she was an infant though)
A few weeks ago I took my 4 year old niece to get her ears pierced, she was crying to get them pierced because her sister’s ears were pierced. Believe me, she’s gonna remember that day for a long time. The earrings are so tiny, and the backs fit tight and snug, the post is very short so no digging in her head while she is sleeping. She has medicine to clean and disinfect her ears 2 times a day for 6 weeks, and a schedule to keep track of the cleanings.
I was 8 when I had mine done, and it was not fun, not to mention I looked like a boy when I was little so I probably could have used all the help I could have gotten, lol!
