For myself the only time I will take extra prednisone is if I am going through a flu.   If it’s a bad cold, I just take medication to help it.  Like Sudafed or something else over the counter.    As for the sinus infection, I have only had one and I put a cold wash cloth on my face, take medication, but like I said, the only time I have ever doubled up on my dosage is if I have flu like symptoms.  That doesn’t necessarily mean I am throwing up.  Cause if I am throwing up and cannot take my medication, I have to take a shot of solu cortef. 

As for a respiratory infection, I have to say that I may take more medication, but I always consult my mother before I do anything since she is a RN.  She has helped me so much when it comes to medical problems.  We’ve always told her that she should have become a doctor since she knows so much medically.
