Thank you Kerry’s mom.  I am definitely going to keep that in mind the next time her levels get that high.  Unfortunately for me at the time that her levels got up to 7.0, I did not know much and the Pediatrician she was going to didn’t seem concerned.  But then again, as I have heard a lot around here, most doctors do not take our disease very seriously.  My mother had told me that by taking her to the hospital they would just fill her with fluids to flush out the potassium, so by diluting the water, it would cause the same effects.  She would pee it out and get it out of her system and she would be okay.  If it didn’t work the next time they did her blood levels, I would more than likely have to go to the hospital again. But I will write down the CARE’s number so that I can contact them the next time this does happen.  Her levels last time I knew were fine, but if this situation does arise again, I will know.  One thing that I did learn from that experience is that she became very cranky and cried a lot.  I even asked the board if anyone else had a problem with cranky babies and this disease.  Then I later read that hydrocortisone and florinef both cause irritability, mood swings, and other issues.  Plus I know that when they were tappering it down she started to get cranky.  Now they have her on 4 mg of hydrocortisone, so she is doing really good on that.  But she is still smaller than the average baby her age.  Only 8lbs 10 oz’s and 21" long.  She will be 3 months February 13th.  I want to thank you again for your help and support, like I said, I will definitely write that number down and call them the next time this situation arises.
