I myself am not really sure what the big deal is. I haven’t heard of anyone getting seriously ill from an ear piercing infection, which was being cleaned and watched. My SWCAH daughter had her ears pierced when she was 5, and still remembers the day. I thought blood draws were bad, OH BOY! Anyway, she is 9 now and has never had an ounce of trouble. We were careful about cleaning and turning the earrings for the first 6 weeks, and haven’t thought much about them since.
