Great question. One I have asked many times. The reality is yes we do stress dose our daughter for bad coughs, etc. One reason is that during a month of a bad cough but no usual reasons for stress dosing, our daughter had a blood draw. We were not stress dosing. Her 17ohp was at 4000 when it is normally in very good control. (Her growth reamined steady so the doc and I thought it was due to her cough that wouldn’t go away) This proved to me that she should have been stressed dosed, obviously. Poor little pumpkin. Her cough just wouldn’t go away. Now we stress dose and she gets well soooo much faster and we can return to normal daily dose quicker. Her body just needs it in these times. I don’t want to over medicate but when they can’t fight it on their own they need the extra meds. Her endo agrees. Good luck, JuliaJulia S
