irregular menstrual periods question
Jan. 30th, 2007   2:45pm

My 15 1/2 yr old SWCAH daughter came to me telling me she has had 3 periods in a short period of time, since mid December. She says they are 5-7 days long and heavy. She has been having periods for over 2 years now, but this is the first time she has complained about them being frequent.

Is this something I should be very concerned with? - From what I can gather, it is not unusual for young girls to have irregular and frequent menstrual cycles.

Is there something CAH related I should be concernd with? We just saw her endo about 3 weeks ago and he asked her about her periods, but at that time she had not had the 3rd cycle in 2 months.

She has also seen advertisement about the birth control pills that let you have 4 periods a year...  she told me last night as she was telling me about her starting her period again that she would "so love only having 4 periods a year" (and who wouldn’t)... but now I guess I need to quiz her about her motivation about wanting this bc pill, is it only for the "4 periods a year" ???

Being the mother of a teenager is very difficult. Having a teen with CAH just adds to it a bit...
