Carriers of CAH
Feb. 1st, 2007   8:56pm

I was wondering if anyone who is a carrier of CAH either male or female had any outward appearances that show signs of CAH.  Like my father was a carrier and I feel that since he was a very hairy guy that it may be a sign that some male carriers are hairier than the average male.  My husband is also pretty hairy, he has hair everywhere.  I always joked with him and said that he may be a carrier of the disease.  I’m hoping that he’ll eventually get tested to find out if he is a carrier so that we can figure out if our children in the future will have it.  Right now our daughter Ayrianna is showing signs of CAH, but we’re still waiting on the results from the genetics test.

Also, does anyone on this board know how the whole genetics works?  I heard from my doctor that if my husband is not a carrier, there is a 50/50 chance that my daughter will either have the disease or not have the disease.  How does it work exactly?  It’s quite confusing and I need an idiot proof way of telling me exactly.. lol ;-)  Sorry..but I’m blonde, sleep deprived, and dealing with a rather colicy child right now..

Any help would be appreciated..
