re: Family birhtday party with sick kids

This post is so timely for me. My son is 10, so he isn’t licking other kids stuff, etc anymore. However, this kid is always sick. And I mean always. I am even considering a visit to an immunologist. He has a few healthy days and then whamo-something gets him sick again. And it is a struggle to get him back to center, and make sure whatever he has doesn’t spiral. Yesterday he developed a croupy cough, so I gave him an inhaler (stupid nebulizer broke), Nyquil (I love that stuff), his Nasonex, Singulair, and Claritan, his Growth Hormone, and here is the kicker...I actually stress-dosed him. He didn’t have a fever, but I wanted to see if it would help him. He is definitely doing a bit better this AM. The cough isn’t as harsh. I think it went from croup back to cold. I know we are supposed to stress-dose only with fever, but I wanted to see if it would help. This kid just missed a week of school las week. And a week in December. I have never really limited what he can do, but I am starting to be much more cautious and defensive in his care. My ex is starting to be vocal that I am shelterng him, but I feel like I have no choice. I look at it like I am learning to maneuver around CAH, and manage my son’s care.

I would let my kid go to the birthday party.
