To all of you----I am probably the oldest of all of you with CAH.  I am 65 yrs old and was discovered to have it at the age of twelve, they said I was born with it.  In those days they didn’t surpress it, they took mine out.  What horrible tests and surgery I went through.  At that time I had a 24" waist and they cut me 12", half way round.  Any way enough of that--I always like "boy" and "girl" things, I used to work with my father on our cars, paint the house and do lots of "manly" things, but I also like to dress up pretty and could hardly wait to wear makeup.  That is only natural and I don’t think had anything to do with the CAH.

I know they know so much more about CAH now than they did so many years ago, infact I don’t even know what SW/CAH or SV/CAH is.  I lived for many years with only one Adrenal Gland and married, had 4 children and now have 13 grandchildren.  When I was about 45 I started experiencing "Crisis" and would be rushed to the hospital.  It seemed they said my one gland was not doing the job and when ever I would get sick, or with a bladder infection I had to be taken to the hospital where they would pump me up with Cortef---finally they suppressed my one gland and am now taking the amount I need to live orally.  I guess the point I wanted to make is---boys will be girls sometimes and girls will be boys sometimes--I still like doing both, it’s very rewarding being able to be feminine and still now how to work on a car and do mechanical things around the house--that’s my 2 cents worth,
