Have you thought about giving it to him maybe 3 times a day?  It may be easier on his stomach to have it in smaller dosages.  I also agree that you should give him food or even talk to giving him another form of medication to help him with the stomach pains.  Have you also talked with your doctor about getting him on a different medication rather than prednisone?  I hope that you’ll be able to figure out a good solution.  I personally would try to give it to him 2 or 3 times a day.  I give my daughter her medication 3 times a day and it doesnt bother her.  Plus, with myself, I take it 2 times a day.  I’ve never had stomach related issues with prednisone, but then again I have never been on an extremely high dosage like your son is.
