CassyI have been following the post below regarding the overweight girl and many responses have been to check her levels as she may be oversuppressed. My daughter, who is 4 and SWCAH, has been battling with weight for about a year now and has recently hit 70 pounds. Last year at this time, she weighed in the 40s. We have checked and rechecked her 17-OH levels as well as doing 24 hour urines and she continues to be undersuppressed. We add more Cortef, she gains more weight. Last week her 17-OH was over 7000 and the endo is now thinking of putting her on Prednisone instead of Cortef. We have tried circadian dosing with no real change and she is on a strict diet, but she just keeps climbing.
I desperately want to get this under control because I don’t want her going to school being severely overweight. Has anyone dealt with this and have any ideas? Also, is switching to Prednisone a good idea?
Thanks
