You are so right Megan!  I too trusted the doctors word for years, only to discover later down the line that the excessive steroid dose he was prescribing for my son, was to cause detrimental effects  - shortened adult height, obesity and osteoporosis, which made his life a misery!  He is now a normal weight (having transferred to another specialist)but can do nothing about his height and although on treatment for his bones, he will never reach peak density (he is 19).  Unfortunately when he was young, we did not have access to the internet and the excellent resources, such as Dr Rivkees and Carol M’s book were not available, so trusting the doctor was all we could do.

This board helps us learn from others and I think we are all intelligent enough to know not to change treatment without the advice of our doctors!  Having knowledge of potential pit falls, can only be an advantage so that we can ask the questions and hopefully avoid the problems experienced by others.  Wan/Joanne or whatever you like to call yourself, if you don’t appreciate this board, why don’t you go back to being an ostrich and leave those of us who wish to support each other and increase our knowledge and understanding of CAH in order to improve our/our childrens lives alone?
