re: postsurgical question

Dear Catrina,

What surgeon did you go to???? I want to call or write him/her on behalf of the CAH community. There have been numerous scientific papers written over the last several years saying that dilation should NOT be done by the parent in children. It is uncomfortable for parents, may be scarring to the child psychologically, serves no real purpose since the child’s vagina will stricture in any event, and she is not going to use her vagina for many years to come. This is not current standard protocol--it is "old school".

Please call our office on Monday and I will look up some articles for you to copy for the surgeon.
