Hi Bonnie!Kelly Leight
How are you? Did you move to Ohio? Email me and let me know how you are.My son did not stop growing until he was 18 and he started entering puberty around 12-13. His real growth spurt was at age 15-16. Boys keep growing bone age 17, girls 15 (I believe--my books are at work to verify). Your doctor should be able to look at your son’s past growth velocity and his bone age measure his predicted height. I think you have predicted very low because you are underestimating the time he has to grow. Also, there is a lull in growth before the kids begin their pubertal growth spurt.
Here’s a book you might like to read. You can buy it at www.authorhouse.com :
The Growth Spurt: (Calculating Your Child’s Final Adult Height)
Dr. John G. AlevizosI would wonder if keeping your son on steroids when he does not technically have CAH during this prime growth time might suppress his growth velocity?
At this point, I would imagine that you would have to put him on Lupron to halt puberty in combination with growth hormone to make a significant height increase. At this age he may feel uncomfortable stopping puberty for a couple of years, but then there are always the late bloomers in every class. Have you talked to your child’s doctor about GH and lupron? It sounds like you need to have a long talk with your doctor about options.
Take care,
