Strep question....

Hey everyone. My 9 year old daughter that has SWCAH has strep. We found out yesterday afternoon. I have given her two doses of antibiotics. One late afternoon after we picked up the meds., then a dose before bed. HUGE honken pills she takes WOW. This started Wednesday after school. She said she was EXHAUSTED and came hom to lay on the couch. NOT her at all. By evening she spiked a fever of 103. something, into early morning Thursday. It spiked again Thursday night, so I decided this wasn’t they typical sore throat by Friday morning. Sure enough, this is her FIRST time getting strep. I used to get strep as a kid EVERYTIME I turned around. So I was happy she waiting until she was almost 10 to get strep for the first time. Her levels are way off and she is extremely under suppressed so I am sure it doesn’t help her fight this at all. My question is this. About how long does it take for this strep thing to go away? They say not to expose anyone to her for 48 hours until she has been on antibiotics. So I am assuming it takes about 48 hours until it really kicks in and makes her feel better. The sore throat has really diminished this morning but she sounds nasally. As many times as I had strep as a kid I don’t remember, but do you get a runny nose with strep? She is coughing here and there too. Should I expect a heavy cough surfacing? She has asthma on top of CAH. I just want to be prepared. I would have asked the ped. yesterday but she literally walked into the room, said she had strep, told us what meds. she would prescribe, and fax to our local drug store and turned and left before I could say a word! They were PACKED in that office. We waited forever and I was sick to my stomach thinking of all the germs we inhaled as we waited in that small hot room. ICK! I still need to design that bubble suit! (ha ha ha) Anyway. I thought since she had two doses of antibiotics in her system by evening, she wouldn’t peak a fever and yet at 5:30 am this morning, it was on the rise at 100.3. I just caught it. She is usally has a low temp. anyway so this was hot for her. Any input would be great. Thanks everyone! Can you tell I have been without sleep three nights in a row? Ratteling on. Running into walls tired. Wee hooo!
