Risks of breastfeeding when I take prednisolone 5mg od?

Hi there,

I have LOCAH and am 12 weeks pregnant. I have been advised to remain on my usual dose of prenisolone 2.5mg twice a day. I am aware that this results in a slightly increased risk of cleft palate in my unborn child but was told the risks of my reducing or ceasing the dose to self and baby outweighed this risk. Still it is horrible to think that already somethign I am taking for my own health may have impacted on the well-being of my unborn child.

I have also now discovered that it is not recommended you take prednisolone when breast-feeding. Does anyone know what the risks to baby are? Do they outweight the benefits of breastsfeeding over bottle feeding?

Any LOCAH mothers out there - guidance really would be welcomed.
