Mary,  thanks for your suggestions.  Yes, I have had my 17 OHP and cortisol simultaneously tested.  There has never been a reading which indicated my hydrocortisone dose should be lowered.  Of course, I remain ready for the possibility.  I have my bone density tested at least once every 2 years because of the increased risk posed by ongoing steroid use.  My density is slightly lower than that of a "normal" man my age, but nothing that concerned my docs or me.  I make sure to exercise frequently, and take vitamins with iron, as part of my regimen.

It’s worth mentioning that I recently learned that long term steroid use increases our potential for skin cancer.  While I checked out okay a month ago, I will now be getting an annual check-up to make sure nothing develops in the future.

Lastly, I have been blessed with three beautiful, healthy children.  All are carriers, but none have CAH.  For the men out there, and for the mothers of boys, who worry about their fertility, I am living testament that it’s possible to be a father with CAH.

I wish you, and all who read this, a wonderful week.  I’m off for vacation, but will check back next week -- Eric
