Hi Liz! I haven’t been on the board for awhile and just read your post. I think you are right to be concerned. I think there are cases of babies losing hair, which is normal, but with CAH you can’t take anything for granted.  It is your job as her mother to monitor and question everything, even if it could be normal. Who wants to take the chance of your child not being in the best control possible?

My nine year old SWCAH daughter had fine dark hair when she was born. She also lost her hair at a few months of age. It seemed very gradual, though. I don’t remember finding tufts of hair on her pillow or anything like that, but by one year of age she was completely BALD! I also asked her endo about it, but he seemed to think it was completely unrelated to her CAH. Her ped, however, was concerned. Because of her hair loss and slow growth, he sent us to the Mayo clinic in Minnesota to see a ped endo he knew. The ped endo put our daughter on salt and her growth took off immediately. Could just be coincidence, but this is when she started to get her hair back as well. Maybe something for you to question?

Keep on plugging away and asking those questions!

God Bless,

Katrina
