My husband and I used to own a gallery, but I felt very out of control - retail is a hard way to make a living, especially in the seasonal area we live in. So, we sold our gallery a couple of years ago (we had at least made a good name and were able to sell it) and now I make jewelry at home (I sell retail at a few local shows and wholesale nationally...and my husband is a woodworker, also at home). Even though it’s a fairly new venture, I’m starting to do well and am doing my first large wholesale show in a few weeks. This all turned out to be a blessing when my SWCAH daughter was born almost six months ago - although it is VERY hard to get much done with an almost six-month old! My husband and I just instituted a work schedule (rather than "I’ll watch her when you need me to") and that’s helping. But I just can’t imagine having to bring her to daycare (I don’t know how everyone deals with it!) and am so thankful that I’m able to work at home. Good luck with your venture...I’m also going to home-school, so I’ll buy some books from you!Hanni
