Susan A.I always just tell people that my body doesn’t make enough cortisol and I have to take steroids daily. I tell them that in case of emergency I need to have an injection of solucortef - (usually this conversation comes up when I’m hiking - or doing physical activities outdoors.) I want people to know who are with me... in case I need their help. I don’t tell people right away - usually I have dated them 6 or 7 times - or known them as friends for a while. No one bats an eye.
Also - I graduated from college at age 40 (BA in Education) while working fulltime and raising my daughter as a single parent. We with CAH can do just about anything anyone else can do - though at times we have to pace ourselves.
