The surgery I had at 13 was more ’opening out’, not much to do with plastic surgery as such. The reason I had to have it done was because I’d started my periods and the fluid couldn’t get out until I passed urine. The doctors never said for certain, but I’m sure that was the reason I was getting unexplained infections and immense stomach pains. Ever since though, everything’s been fine. I had to use dilators to stretch the ’opening’ but it wasn’t a big issue because it didn’t take long. My surgeon was great, even she was impressed with her work!
-> To D, as regards nerve damage, I never experienced that, it’s all present and correct, trust me! (Hehe)
Karen, it’s still my opinion for kids to have surgery early. People will say that they waited and it was fine, but would you want to be ’the girl with weird bits?’ . Sorry if this sounds a bit blunt, but that’s my own opinion.
I hope what I’ve said has helped though!
