LizI appreciate you understanding my concern with my daughter. I don’t feel like this is something that should be taken lightly because like your daughter, my daughter was also born with dark hair and also had quite a bit of hair. My daughter is also pretty small too. She has been on the 5 percentile curve since she was born. She weighs about 12 lbs, and is 22 1/2" long.
The reason I felt like it was a CAH thing was for the fact that when we started taking her off the medication, it started to fall out. Everyone kept saying that its normal, its normal. But I didn’t believe that. I have read quite a few articles that talk about high testosterone levels being the cause of hair loss.
Sometimes I get really frustrated when my Endo doesn’t feel like this should be cause for concern. He even tried to tell me that its normal for a child to lose hair on the back of their head if they lay down on it all the time. (I already knew this and that wasn’t the part I was concerned about) It was the top of her head that I was concerned about. She doesn’t lay on the top of her head all day. ;-) My pediatrican is more concerned about this than he is and she going to review my daughters hair in 4 to 6 weeks and if none has come in, then we’re probably going to try something else. She frowned on the fact that my endo told me what he had, I think she believes that CAH can infact contribute to hair loss, if my daughters levels are off.
I hope that this problem can be solved because if it is something in her body that is causing this problem, I want to take care of her the best that I can.
May God bless you too,
Liz
P.S. Thank you again for taking time to not poo poo my belief on this being serious.
