KatrinaCongratulations! How exciting of a time. Makes me wish my daughter was being born all over again. (Alright, I won’t go that far!) ; )
My daughter will be 10 in a couple of weeks, and the time has gone by so quickly! I know it can be scary at first. A new baby requires so much care without having a medical condition. Trust me, though, before you know it you won’t even think about the meds, it will become part of the everyday routine. There have been threads on this board about giving an infant their meds if they are refusing. Those might be useful for you to read.
My daughter has always been very well controlled. When she was a baby we dealt with illness a little more than what is considered normal, but she was my first so I didn’t know any different. She has only been hospitalized a handful of times, and never since she was 5. She is very active in sports and dance and has a ton of friends. I think she is a very typical little girl.
I know exactly what you are saying about being worried to have more children. This condition can seem overwhelming at first, but once you arm yourself with knowledge, it does get easier. My husband and I thought we wouldn’t have anymore, but we met so many wonderful families, who were managing multiple CAH children successfully. We decided our daughter was something we would definitely do again and decided to go for it! TWICE! Our youngest two children are only 10.5 months apart. (Is that even medically possible?) They are both boys and do not have CAH.
Again, congratulations! I recommend you research as much as you possibly can, as well as getting into contact with the CARES foundation. There are so many wonderful resources that I wish I would have taken advantage of when my daughter was younger. Good luck!
God Bless,
Katrina
