We had never heard of CAH before our daughter was born. And when first hearing about it all and absorbing everything, it was very scary! According to what I’ve read, about 1 in 60 people are carriers of SWCAH, so there’s about a 1/3600 chance that two carriers will "mate". Out of their children, 1 in 4 would have CAH, which makes the birth rate of SWCAH about 1/14,400. I’m not sure how that all works out with the more common kinds of CAH.HanniMy husband has a non-CAH son who’s 15, and Kael is our first child (I’m 37). And as we’ve gotten used to this whole thing, we wouldn’t think twice about having another child (although at first, the thought was a little daunting). In fact, we’ll probably start trying in another year or two. I’m not getting any younger! :-)
How are you giving your daughter her meds? I have some good suggestions for you if you want them, but rather than type it all out, it would probably be easier to give me a call - just e-mail me at yothers@gmail.com and I’ll send you the info (or send your # and I can call). Good luck with everything...aren’t those darling girls (and boys!) just a blessing?!!!!
