I may have a way to promote CAH awareness around the country but I need helpers!!

As some of you know I’m a 32 yr old female with SWCAH. That’s my wedding picture you see sometimes up in the corner of the board. In January I started working for a pageant production company called as a judge coordinator.

Our office is in Western PA, but we have pageants all over the country. My job is to contact social service organizations, charities, and civic minded type individuals to sit on the judges panel. In return the organization gets to promote themselves at the event. The audience is usually about 400-600 people.

I just thought today that maybe we could use this as a way to get the word out about CAH and the importance of newborn screening.(In a positive way, not the usual sensationalized media way) I was thinking that maybe I could post the cities where we are having the next pageant and if anyone in that area wanted to sit on the panel( it can be more than one person) they could contact me.

Maybe we could coordinate with Cares foundation and get pamphlets to distribute at the pageants. Also the pageants aren’t your standard beauty pageant. The focus is on inner beauty rather than outward appearance. We have no height or weight requirements and we have had girls with handicaps, etc. It’s for ages 10-19.

Just recently I’ve started traveling to help with the information sessions and all of the kids and their families have been just regular people. Not the Jonbenet types or anything.

So let me know what everyone thinks. Our next pageant is in Memphis, TN this weekend April 28 and 29. That’s short notice but the next one is in Worcester, MA May 12 and 13.

If anyone is interested in sitting on the panels let me know. My email is brendathomas295@yahoo.com
