Thank God, your baby is fine. We had a very scary situation in emergency. Took our little guy in, he was throwing up profusely. He was ten days old and had not yet been diagnosed with SWCAH. The doctor told us that his potassium level was very high, but had no idea what that meant. A nurse actually came in and told us, "If you would burp him properly, he wouldn’t be throwing up!" Not until he was going into shock, did they decide to send him by ambulance to Children’s Hospital. There he was diagnosed with SWCAH, treated, and saved! Many emergency room staff, have never encountered SWCAH and have no idea how to treat it, or for that matter even know what it is. "VERY SCARY"CDD
