I am changing the packing and dressing twice a day. I have to flush it with sterile saline each time. The first gauze that the home health nurse opened was 1/2" wide and that is very uncomfortable for her. In the doctor’s office 2 days later they packed it with 1/4" wide gauze and it goes in much easier. Home health supplies her with all gauze, tape, pads, saline, gloves, etc - everything needed to dress the wound properly. They won’t hospitalize her for this. Anyway, it will take at least 4-6 weeks to heal. My guess, knowing her history, is that it will be 8 weeks or more, but I hope I am wrong. It’s very uncomfortable for her when it is changed, but she is one tough young lady.Kay
