Hello Megan,

In a medical paper called "Primary Hyperaldosteronism without Suppressed Renin Due to Secondary Hypertensive Kidney Damage"
http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/85/9/3266

****
A plasma aldosterone (nanograms per dL) to PRA (nanograms per mL/h) ratio of more than 20 in conjunction with a plasma aldosterone level greater than 15 ng/dL (>0.42 nmol/L) makes the diagnosis of primary hyperaldosteronism very likely (2)

My aldactone-treated baseline ratio being 42/2.4 or 17.5 which is close to 20, and my stimulated ratio being 73/2.4 or 30.4, it makes me wonder. If I have kidney damage due to my high BP, that would also explain an illogically high cortisol level, as my kidneys might not have been eliminating cortisol.

But I’m here to listen more than to talk, so what do any of you think?
Even though the paper mentions primary aldosteronism in it’s title, it has this to say later on-

****
After establishing the diagnosis of primary hyperaldosteronism, it is important to determine whether the syndrome is caused by an adrenal adenoma (Conn’s syndrome), by idiopathic primary hyperaldosteronism without a tumor, or by some other very rare underlying adrenal disorders.

which still leaves the cause open, even open to 17-alpha-hydroxylase cah. I don’t know. I’m out of answers.
