We desperately need your prayers!

Today Linda was fired. One of her bosses, last year, told her he had feelings for her. She let him know that she was happily married, and hoped that was the end of it. Last week she spent in Phoenix on a company sponsored Habitat for Humanities build, the second one she’s participated in. She was under the impression that her boss had wanted to go, and may not have been able to because she was chosen instead. She tried to call him to find out, before she left for Phoenix, because she felt guilty for getting to go twice when many never went once.

He used the phone calls, as "proof" of "sexual harassment" and had her fired. Nothing even remotely sexual was said in the phone calls, but because of his position, she was fired, nonetheless. Linda is a very trusting person and tends to assume people have good motives when they don’t.

We are now left with only what little I make on the internet, and no health insurance at all. There is an appeals process, but it looks lengthy and time consuming. Linda was in the process of looking for a teaching job, but that wouldn’t have started until August.

Please pray that God will guide us as we deal with this and provide the wisdom and support we need.

I’m not sure how we’ll manage things until we sort this out. Linda was working two other jobs on the weekends, substitute teaching on Fridays and watching an elderly lady on Saturday. The subbing has ended, and she may get more time watching the elderly lady, but not much. My stuff on the internet has grown over the years, but it’s still only about a third of what Linda was bringing home. I’ve still got a few freelance projects I haven’t been paid for, the stuff I do for The Old Schoolhouse and a new AdSense site I’m working on, but mostly it’s been slow building projects, nothing big. The problem is for me to try to find an outside job means dropping most of the income producing things on the internet, and putting Linda in a position that would make it harder for her to pursue a teaching job, which is her dream. It would leave us in a much worse position.

Linda will be trying to find something for the summer, and we will try to find a way to manage the medical expenses. We have several doctor’s visits coming up, an emergency room visit to pay for (our 9-year-old had to go two weeks ago) and we are still paying for my gall-bladder surgery last year.

We are still deciding whether to call an attorney or not. They are expensive, and we don’t know how we’d ever pay them. After reading over the appeals process the company provided, it’s obvious that it’s rigged. Linda is not allowed to know what "witnesses" are call to "verify" the accusation against her, but the boss will know ahead of time what witness would be called in Linda’s defense. The appeal is heard by other employees, who will fear for their own jobs if they turn against someone who has garnered power within the company.

Like I said, we really need your prayers.
