I’m really sorry to hear this.   I think it’s good that your wife is trying to become a teacher.  Is there any way she could get another corporate job?  Even if it means moving?  We have moved 6 times - inter-state and now international - so my husband can remain gainfully employed and it’s been a drag but probably worth it in the long run.  The kids have fared surprisingly well.  Is your state anywhere near going to some kind of universal health care like some of them are?
