Something similar happened to my daughter when she was 3, although she didn’t have a seizure. It was early morning and she was sitting on a chair trying to put her socks on: she was so drowsy that she started falling over and couldn’t hold her head up! We rushed her to the doctor and found that her blood sugar was VERY low .... they gave her some OJ and she perked up right away. The doctor (and the endo agrees) said that very little kids can have their blood sugar dip dangerously low in the mornings because it’s been so long since they’ve had anything to eat or drink. The effects are more severe for them because they have such little bodies and small capacity stomachs.Wendy-LeeI agree with the advice about giving something (usually juice mixed with Gatorade) in the middle of the night when they’re sick - we do this all the time now. We also carried sugar tablets - like they have for diabetics - around with us for a time, but really haven’t had any troubles since. Interestingly enough, my daughter sweats alot when she sleeps too, as do I, my Mom and my Grandpa, but none of us have ever been diagnosed with low blood sugar (high, if anything). We haven’t had any trouble since, and my daughter is almost 10 now. As your child gets older, she’ll be able to tell you if she’s "feeling funny", which really helps.
I don’t believe that one seizure from low blood sugar will make your child more prone to more seizures, but it’s surely something you should ask your doctor, along with your other questions. I’ll keep her in my prayers.
Blessings,
