Hi Penny, My daughter isabella has been wearing a medic alert bracelet since she was about 6 months old, she is now 11... We have never had a problem with her wearing it, though she has lost it a few times thank god we found it. I ordered the 18ct gold emblem and we go a jeweller to make a lovely chain for it, but because it was 18ct it kept wearing away, so now we keep that one for special occassions. She now wears the surgical stainless steel one to school and for everyday living. The surgical stainless steel isnt to bad it looks like silver. For peace of mind its great if she can wear one. And i dont think it maters if she wears i as an anklet as long as shes comfortable... Isabella has never complained about wearing it.....Vera
