re: Daughter with CAH, diagnosed aged 4, now 18. Always overwhelmed
Feb. 3rd, 2005   2:07pm

My daugher is 16 and has CAH.  She, too, worries about her weight.  So much so that over the summer I had been concerned about how little she was eating.  The kids get such pressure from the media and their peers to be so thin.  Well, she has gained back a few pounds, but is still thin but healthy and is working constantly to maintain it.  I think it is a teenage thing complicated by the CAH and meds they just take.

My daughter's pulse has always been a little higher than normal.  Twice she had periods where her BP was a little high and it came back down with no change in her meds.  She wore a heart monitor twice and they said her heart rate was a little high whether she was sitting at rest, doing an activity or even sleeping.  It was not high enough that the cardiologist was concerned.  He thought it was a result of the steroids, but not enough to do anything about it.  It's kind of a trade-off.  We must maintain her hormone levels and this may be a result.

Hope this helps.

Kay
