Hi Lisa
That's a great idea to have him tested. My husband and I have two children with CAH and from the Genetic Counselling we were told that every child of ours who had CAH would have exactly the same strand of CAH. However, we have discovered that even though our kids have the same strand they react to CAH very differently because they are very different children with very different bodies.
It may be possible for your neices and nephews to have a completely different form of CAH because while you and your sister may carry the same strand your husbands will have their own mutations. Your husband is obviously carrying a form of salt-wasting CAH but your sister's husband may be a carrier of Non-salt wasting CAH. I have known of people not being diagnosed until they are adults with CAH and have somehow managed to survive without treatment.
My advice would be to wait until the test results come back and seek Genetic Counselling as they would be able to explain how the different types and strands of CAH come about.
All the very best to your family while you investigate the possibilities.
Linda
