re: New first time mum with CAH daugher
May. 26th, 2005   3:31am

Hi Kelly,

I remeber how overwhelming it was for the first year when our children were born with CAH.  I cannot stress how significantly easier it gets.  I have a 4.5 yr old son and a 2 yr old daughter both with CAH.

It really takes about a year to go through 1 or 2 adrenal crisis's and have their medication settle down.  I just want to say how incredibly normal and happy my children are and people actually don't believe me they have a medical condition.

Feel free to email me directly if you have any questions or want to chat.  If you haven't already done so you may want to join the CAH Support Group because there are alot of helpful tips and family stories plus you may want to get your hands on the new member's pack.  It has alot of reference material.

I just want to encourage you to hang in there.  The stage you are at is definately the most difficult by far and life with CAH becomes a small part of life most of the time once your daughter gets a bit older.  Again, just contact me if you have any questions no matter how big or small.

Regards

Linda, Acting President, CAH Support Group Australia
