I am interested to see how other parents are giving med dosages and at what times. I understand depending on the age/weight etc everybodies dosage levels will differ. Presently I am giving my daugher hydro which the hospital chemist is making up in syrup dispension for us rather then crushing tablets. It only has a shelf life of one month but is not as bitter tasting and much more convenient to administer. Fludro is given in whole tablet form diluted in water directly into a syringe (given my daughter is only 9weeks).
We were originally giving dosages at 2am, 10am & 6pm, but we have changed this to 10.30pm, 7am & 3pm. My daughter has been sleeping right through the night from 8pm to 7am, hence I give her the 10.30pm meds in her sleep. From what I've been told I am very fortunate to have my baby sleeping soundly through the night, however I do worry this may have something to do with her CAH?? The first few nights she did this I did not sleep well with worry she may have an adrenal crisis.
Fludro should be given with food which I am NOT doing for the 10.30pm, I have checked with the paediatrician who advised me this is o.k. Does anybody know of any repercussions this may have? Am I foolish to continue this?
Realistically, should I expect my daughter to have an adrenal crisis at least once in the first 12 months of her life? Have anyones babies gone the first year without one?
So many questions I know, but must admit I'm excited that I can fire off all these questions to you people who have personally experienced this everyday of your life rather then just from the doctors.
Thanks, Kelly
