My son Shane is now 6 and has never had an adrenal crisis, he has had many illnesses but because we monitor him very carefully it never gets to that point. My daughter L'Tecia is ten and has had one or two over the years. It is interesting to note that L'Tecia used to get sicker more often and crashes very quickly where as my son Shane does not get sick often and doesn't end up in crisis like L'Tecia can do. Every child is different and you just need to learn how to deal with situations as they arise. Always follow your intstincts. It's always better to see a doctor when they are sick just until you get into the swing of things. Now if my kids are sick and need the injection I give it myself and then monitor them very carefully. More often than not we don't even need to go to hospital, just a quick visit to their GP and they recover very quickly. Don't worry so much you will get used to this.
On another note it is probably better to let your kids get used to the taste of the medecine rather than hiding the taste in pre mixed syrupy medecines. They must take this for the rest of their lives and you don't want to be still having to have syrup mixed up for an older child. My kids just eat their medecine straight out of a jar and have since they were big enough to chew it. The tast does not bother them if you get them used to it when they are very small.
