Cortisone - disgusting tasting stuff
Aug. 31st, 2005   12:42pm

Hi Kell and all those that responded about medications for young 'uns in one of the other threads....................

I will say, having taken various cortisones for the last 31 years that yes they are bitter and disgusting and having chewed them for all of my young life (I had a mental block with swallowing until I was in my 20's), that with time, there is nothing worse than trying to hide their taste.

If tablets were put into toast with jam etc or other things, it merely took longer to swallow and tainted the taste of what you were eating.  I also had to take Dex late at night (11pm) and my parents put it into my mouth with a spoon of honey.  I will never forget the embarrassment of facing and talking to people with a mouth full of rotting baby teeth!

The best day was when I finally learned to swallow my tablets and now I cannot believe how bitter they were and I didn't blink an eye at chewing them.

Regards

Lilea
